About Us
The Law Offices of Scott R. Miller
Experienced former prosecutor practicing law in Florida since 2002
For over twenty years, I have spent nearly every day in the Court Houses of South Florida, first as a Prosecutor, and then for the past fourteen years, defending the accused and protecting their rights.
As a result, I have a deep familiarity with the criminal justice system in South Florida and its workings, from the prosecutor’s office to the jails and corrections officers, and of course the courts themselves.
When I left the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, where I was a Felony Division Chief handling a homicide case load and training and supervising new attorneys, I knew the type of law practice I wanted to develop.
No large sprawling customer-unfriendly law firm with dozens of attorneys would be my stop; this was not what I wanted my law practice to be. Instead, I wanted a small, personal firm where my clients called me Scott, and where my Legal Assistant also knew my clients and their families on a first name basis.
For my firm, I personally would be the lawyer standing before the judge on the client’s behalf. The client’s case would not be handed off to a first-year associate, who had little or no relationship with the prosecutors or the court personnel. Of course, that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy a network of lawyers who can assist with the occasional emergency or schedule conflict, of course I do.
If you or your family member find yourselves involved in the criminal court system and you want to be confident your lawyer understands you and the issues, and will fight for you in court, please call us right away for your consultation.
I offer a FREE consultation; that means you can feel free to sit in our offices and tell me exactly what happened to you. We’ll review your case in the Miami-Dade Clerk of Court’s computer system, we’ll review the police reports you were given, and sometimes even more importantly, we’ll make sure to discuss all of your associated concerns. Maybe your work involves a state-issued license, or maybe you have concerns about the effect on your legal status in the U.S. Maybe you have an associated divorce case, or one of many other issues that my clients often express.
Call us to get started and schedule your free consultation.
